Copy and Paste is incredibly useful – I think we can universally agree on that point. But, did you know that the little Windows key on your keyboard is hiding a better way to do it? Enter, the clipboard history.
The clipboard history can be an incredibly useful feature. Instead of Windows only remembering the most recent item you have copied (or cut), it can actually store a list of the most recent items. This allows you to recall a copied item that you may have already overwritten on your clipboard.
Activating the feature is easy. Simply press Win + v, and click “Turn on” in the resulting dialog.
Voila! Now whenever you press Win + v, you will see a list of recent items from your clipboard. (Note that Windows doesn’t store this history until the feature is turned on, so nothing should be there right now)
You can also pin frequently used items to your history. This will keep them in your clipboard history, even after restarting your system. (Please take caution to not store any sensitive information here!)
Should you ever wish to turn it off, head to All Settings in your Notification Center. Under System settings, Clipboard is listed near the bottom. Select that, and simply toggle the feature off from there.
Simple as that!
